Chugga Chugga Choo Choo – Train Party On Its Way!

October 5, 2012 By: Flavia

My customers inspire me.

I said it before and I will say it again: I LOVE custom orders. I love working from scratch and going from zero to hero! .

When Kasey contacted me last weekend and she asked if I had some ideas for a train birthday party I must admit I was a little lost. I could not believe that in a whole year handcrafting so many parties for little kids I have never had the chance to design a train themed birthday party. Come on! Choo choos are so cute! My son is in love with Thomas…and if that love grows bigger within the next ten months…then you’ll know what the 3rd birthday party theme will be!

So, back to what I was saying… {I got a little sidetracked there daydreaming on my son’s 3rd birthday} Kasey sent me this picture of the birthday T-Shirt she got for her son…

She wanted to keep the theme within the colors light blue, navy and red. I did my research within Etsy too, and found the cutest clip art at ViveraDesign.

All Aboard Clip Art at ViveraDesign
I have to say, I love buying within my Etsy fellows. It’s such a wonderful marketplace. Vera from Vivera Design is located in Jakarta, Indonesia – yes, the other side of the world – Oh! the wonders of the internet! I received my files within 24 hours and I was able to send Kasey a digital proof of the train party invitation.
And here is the final product:
I can’t take credit for the wording since it was all my customers’ input and so was the idea of making the invitation look like a train ticket. I do,  however take credit of the entire design and layout. How do you like it choo choo train lovers? I am ‘all aboard’ this train!
I am having a blast designing from scratch…I am not only making my customers happy but I am supporting other artists’ businesses purchasing their original designs.
I will make sure to give you an update on this theme, since I will be designing some other train party decorations.
This train party invitation and other decorations will be soon available for sale at my Etsy shop. If you happen to stop by and don’t see anything listed, just shoot me an email at poshpaperpartiesco at gmail dot com {just change the at for an @ and the dot for an actual dot (.) } .
Thanks for looking and have a wonderful weekend !

Nautical Nursery {once again}

I can’t help but wonder..”where did time go?”…A year ago I was painting, designing and buying all the nautical decor for my baby’s nursery…and look at “us” now…I am chasing a fast speed crawler all over the house and gone are the days of the “cute”, “everything in place” nursery….Every night before I put baby to sleep the room looks like a hurricane just passed through.

I enjoyed so much shopping for nursery decor and creating things that once again, the nautical nursery bug bit me  and I went and did some homework for you! (not for me, not for now)…When they interviewed me for the article featuring Logan’s nursery, they asked me my special tip for mommies to be that are decorating their babies nurseries themselves. I had to say that the most important thing to do when it comes to decorating a nursery is to mix and match within the same hues and theme. If you try to match each and every piece in the room, you’ll go crazy and probably spend a fortune! So, today I picked some things here and there and I recreated  a Nautical Nursery that I’m sure  you’ll absolutely love.

Go ahead and take a peek!

1. Graco Charleston Non-Drop Classic Crib, White
{ this is the same crib I have! a steal }

2. Sherwin Williams Interior Paint SW6786 Cloudless
 { I used Valspar – Clear Blue Sky, same thing right? }

3. Nojo Sea Babies Tom The Turtle Plush and Sea Babies Ollie the Octopus

4. White Chapel End Table in White

5. Sea Babies Printed Canvas Art – Set of 4 (10″ x 10″)

6. Tadpoles Classics Gingham Blue – Coverlet

Tadpoles Classics Blue Gingham Crib Bumper

7. Suede Glider Rocker Recliner – Green

8. Under the Sea Lamp w/ Shade

9. South Shore Furniture, Changing Table, Pure White

And… take it from there! Maybe you prefer a cheaper glider {I would too!} but a pricey top of the line crib  but the idea is here and I am sure you’ll have fun too putting together a beautiful nautical nursery for your little prince. If you do, send me some pictures I would love to see what you do and I’ll feature it on my blog!

Come back soon to find more great ideas! Thanks for looking, have a great day!
