Custom Birth Announcements – Printable Files

February 18, 2013 By: Flavia

I have been wanting to share with you these custom printable birth announcements I am starting to design for my nursery decor Etsy shop. I wish my listings could grow faster but it’s insane the amount of orders of birthday parties I have to fulfill each month.

For my first attempt, I created a nautical birth announcement… of course.

Each custom birth announcement print measures 8″ x 10″  formatted to be printed on a 8.5″ x 11″ paper. After the purchase is made, the customer will receive a rough draft of the file for approval and then it will be re-sent in a 300 dpi PDF form.

Here is another example I made for my girlfriend’s little girl…

These birth announcement prints make a perfect gift for the new parents. What a wonderful way to treasure baby’s very first vital stats.
If you’re interested in purchasing one of these custom birth announcements, please email me to onecutenursery {at} gmail.com or send me a conversation via Etsy. I will design your printable file with the colors and theme of your choice. As always, the sky is the limit!

Shabby Chic Baby Shower Decor – Vintage Style

September 12, 2012 By: Flavia

Since I was a little girl, I had a tendency to like cottage chic decor…. especially those little girl bedrooms full of white distressed furniture with pink floral bedding and splashes of aqua here and there. I remember when I first saw a picture of a beautiful ‘shabby chic’ bedroom set portrayed on a JC Penney Catalog… I was probably 10 and I ripped the page and kept it for years. Yes, I have been scrapping for a long time!
When I first got pregnant, I knew that if I was having a baby girl, I was going to make her the most beautiful shabby chic nursery ever 😉 …God blessed me with a little sailor and instead, I designed for him a not too shabby nautical retreat.

I have been saving a shabby chic nursery post for later this year…I have an ongoing project that I would love to share with all of you, but it’s not finished ;). I will make sure to come back to this post and write an update when the time comes. Well, I do not have a shabby chic nursery for you today, but I do have a beautiful shabby chic baby shower that I designed for Daniela based on the colors pink, aqua and lavender.

Shabby Chic cardstock is not easy to find. To make a sturdy banner, I printed shabby chic scrapbooking paper and mounted it onto solid color coordinating cardstock.

Shabby Chic Baby Shower Banner

This particular banner read: “Lu’s Baby Shower” – a long one, yes –

This time I incorporated pastel color mini clothes pins instead of wooden ones. Both types are itty bitty cute and pretty 🙂 !
The patterns include roses, stripes and damask.
I made cupcake toppers out of the tiny roses on pink and tiny roses on aqua papers. I do not carry this design of cupcake toppers anymore – printed on the back – I would only make them if custom ordered. They are a little more time – and ink- consuming therefore, the cost is higher.
These are the food tents. I sent these blank because the customer hadn’t decided on the menu just yet. But I do offer them with the food names printed on it.
We kept the cupcake wrappers in coordinating solid colors. These are the perfect final touch for the cupcakes.
Cupcake wrappers ship flat and ready to assemble.
These are two samples of shabby chic baby shower favor tags. Tiny roses on pink…{very popular in my shop} and featured on an Etsy Treasury.
and tiny roses on aqua …

I heart custom orders. Send me an email to poshpaperpartiesco at gmail dot com { replace the at for a @ and the dot for an actual dot (.) } nobody likes spammers!

Pink Kitty First Birthday Party – Pink and Lavender

September 8, 2012 By: Flavia

In the midst of organizing my craft room {yes, it is finished, I just haven’t put the finishing touches, once that’s done, I will snap the pictures and write a post} I stumbled upon so many projects I have done in the past months and that I have not been able to share on the blog, neither to post on my online store. Yikes! I really have a lot of work to do!

Sorting through the pictures files on my computer, I found this beautiful pink kitty party I made for baby Olivia back in May. One thing I like about my work, is being able to design around someone else’s idea. Usually, the customer would send me a picture or a link of something they saw online, or something they own and ask me to design the party package around it. So far, so good 🙂 I have delivered beautiful party packages inspired on just colors, any possible animal { I am working on baby shower package with baby panda bears!} trees {like my cherry blossom favor tags}, favors, the baby’s nursery decor and more.

Olivia’s mommy sent me the party invitation and asked me to design a welcome sign, a happy birthday banner, a high chair banner and a mini happy first birthday banner. The theme was a pink kitty with touches of lavender… I used a beautiful white glitter tulle fabric for the hanging part of the welcome sign, tied with pastel pink satin bows. Cute!

I put ‘jewels’ around the kitty’s neck to make a collar… fancy kitty 🙂

Now, a “Happy Birthday Olivia” banner is quite large {even in the picture is hard to get the whole banner within 600 pixels width } …
…so I kept the “Olivia” banner separate and added one kitty link on each end.
Olivia’s mommy kept it and hung it on the nursery’s door. These banners are well made 😉 and they sure will last for years if you handle them properly. Keeping the name part, is a nice idea for baby’s first birthday keepsake.
I usually tie the banners’ links together with sheer ribbon, however, this banner was so dear to me and so sophisticated, that I decided to tie it with pink and lavender fabric tulle knots.

I kept the small banners ( happy 1st birthday and high chair) simple. Those, I printed {instead of die-cut as above} and tied them with sheer ribbon.

Sorry for the large amount of pictures…they might look the same but I actually zoomed in every three links… This is the high chair banner:
And one more collage picture of all the products.
This party package is available at my Etsy Store for $85.00 plus shipping. It can be customized on any colors of your choice, any animal. If you have an idea that you would like to share with me, I would love to hear from you!
Thanks for looking, happy weekend!

Baby Shower Favor Tags – Wording Ideas

August 10, 2012 By: Flavia

What should I write on baby shower favors? That is a very common question customers ask me when ordering favor tags for this occasion.

I have made so many baby shower favor tags in the last year that I think I have enough material to write this blog post {and I am sure there’s more to come!}.

Each “saying” is accompanied by a picture, so you can also see examples of color and patterns combinations and get inspired.

Note: You’re going to see A LOT of onesies! They are people’s favorite!

OK. Let’s get to it:

1} Most popular and no brainer: ” Thanks for coming! –  Lu’s Baby Shower “

2} If you have picked your baby’s name, this wording is appropriate and very cute!: “Welcome Baby Harlyn Annabelle”
I love this pink and lavender favor tag so much I have to post another picture 😉

I love… { I know, I love all of them ! } this shabby chic favor tag with a baby blue background, not too common for a baby girl baby shower, but it works well!
3} You can also omit the word ‘baby’ and just write a plain: “Welcome Elizabeth Robin”
4} This is another simple wording, it includes the name of the mom to be and the date of the baby shower: “Cara’s Baby Shower – February 26th-2012”. No onesie here, this tag was for a customer hosting a vintage themed baby shower and wanted a vintage baby carriage. Cute!

5} Sometimes, baby showers are not only offered for the mom-to-be but also for the dad-to-be. This particular tag was meant to be tied around a drink for a picnic themed baby shower.

It reads: ” Stephanie and Travon’s Baby Shower – Cheers for Baby Aidan”. Notice that to give the tag a rustic feeling, customer chose baking twine instead of satin ribbon.
How about this one to welcome your little prince? This particular tag was made to match the A New Little Prince Baby Shower theme.
6} Here is another example using the baby’s name and the date of the baby shower: “Baby Kendra – April 7th-2012” . I love this tag! The customer asked me if I could customize the background to be cherry blossoms, and I did. I love the palette of green and pink with a hint of brown that comes from the cherry blossoms tree.
7} This is one of the most popular favor tags in my shop, if not THE MOST popular. In fact, they were featured on a Etsy Treasury list. It was designed for a shabby chic themed baby shower where the baby shower hostess was giving tea bags as favors.
It reads: “A Baby is Brewing – Kim’s Baby Shower”.

8} And one more example, for a baby girl baby shower:
” We are tickled pink that you came to celebrate Katharine Grace!”

I hope these favor tags wording ideas inspire you as well as the color combination, themes and patterns used on them. For more baby shower colors and inspiration, click here.

A Girly Baby Shower – Lavender and Pink –

September 17, 2011 By: Flavia

A couple of weeks ago, my friend Jessica hosted her sister’s baby shower and I was very pleased to help her with the decor. Together we came up with the color theme and we agreed on pink…{but of course!}, lavender and light green. I made cupcake toppers, favor tags, napkin rings, welcome sign and the prettiest banner. I can only take credit for the decor on the cupcake stand and toppers {not the cupcakes, I can’t bake..*sigh*} and the other paper goods. Jessica made the beautiful diaper cake, wrapped up the favors in tulle and put everything together in the room making all those decorations shine!

It might sound silly, but I LOVE the tub with the cold drinks! It just looked like if it was made for this particular occasion! The favors were little picture frames with the baby’s sonogram wrapped in white tulle and tied up with the favor tags. I loved the P-A-R-T-Y platters that she filled up with coordinating candies… It was just beautiful!

Watermelons for Sophia {A Great Review}

July 2, 2011 By: Flavia

Hi there everyone!
I’m just stopping by my own blog LOL {I don’t seem to have much time lately} and share with you this wonderful review left by Karen, my first customer on my Etsy Shop. Karen custom ordered the Baby’s First Birthday High Chair Banner that later after I made it and listed it, it was featured on an Etsy Treasury List.
Here is Karen’s feedback:

This seller is so helpful and responsive! The product in the picture is true to life, the shipping was quick, and the price was right. I will definitely be back! “

Treasury List {Baby’s First Birthday High Chair Banner}

June 28, 2011 By: Flavia

I have some exciting news! This past weekend I did my first sale {and then two more!} on my Etsy Shop and not only I had the pleasure to design some high chair banners for three little girls who are turning one on July { just like my little boy} but one of the designs – Watermelons for Sophia – was featured on a Treasury List named Summer Watermelon.

The Treasury on Etsy is a member-curated shopping gallery where this member choose items they like {or LOVE} and feature them in a public list.

This makes me very happy because I am doing two wonderful things: crafts and designing for babies. I am working on an order of  Ladybugs and another one of Pink Lemonade! I love all these summer themes! I would be posting pictures of them soon! Please, do not forget to visit me and Like us on Facebook.

A Real Nursery designed by a Real Mama { a little chat }

May 19, 2011 By: Flavia

After all the excitement and happiness that your heart holds the day you find out you’re expecting a baby, after all those mixed feelings – happy, scared, anxious, worried – sink in, you get a second wind and sigh in relief and say:      ‘ I can definitely do this! ‘ . Later on, comes the fun part…Designing for Baby!

Nothing says I LOVE YOU and I WANT YOU IN MY LIFE more than preparing a nest for your little baby and I truly believe that those nests {a.k.a nurseries} are even more especial when they are designed, built, laid-out and decorated by mommy { and sometimes by daddy too! }. And today I am showing you just that.
Colleen is a young mama from Minnesota who decided to keep the gender of her baby a surprise. She designed a beautiful neutral nursery with lots of vintage details that I am sure you will all love.
Here is what she has to say about how she created such a especial room for her ‘surprise gender’ baby.
One Cute Nursery: Tell us about your baby…
Colleen A: My baby boy is named Brennan Bradley and he’s almost 15 months old.
OCN: and your main occupation?
CA: I am a stay at home Mom.
OCN:  Which piece, color or story -if any- inspired the nursery theme?
CA: We have this little wall decoration, with a mirror in the center and colored dots surrounding it. It was originally in our bedroom, until it dawned on me that it would be the perfect inspiration for our nursery.

OCN:  Which is your favorite piece of the room? That one you could not live without!

CA: I think the changing table/dresser.  It just looks so vintage- I love it!  If we are including little pieces or decorations, then definitely our sentimental shadow box!

A little TLC turned this second hand vintage dresser into
a beautiful and very useful changing table

OCN: Which piece was a bargain? Which one was a splurge?

CA: All of the pieces were bargains!  I guess if I have to classify one as a splurge, it would be our used crib at $100!  The rocking chair is borrowed, the changing table was $25 and the bookshelf and side table were purchased together for $25!  Yay for Craigslist!

At a $100, this beautiful second hand crib was the ‘splurge’.
Mama Colleen sew  the bedskirt herself.
OCN: Where did you get ideas from? Internet, magazines, real rooms…your imagination!?
CA: I got some ideas from the Internet and talking to friends or family and some from my own imagination.
OCN: We always like to feature a product handmade in the USA. Is there any piece in the nursery likewise?
This beautiful bedding made by Seams Sew Perfect,
little Brennan’s grandma.

CA:  My mother-in-law is a master seamstress. We came up with a bumper design and she custom matched the thread in the embroidery to the paint colors. I took on the challenge of making the crib skirt myself.  I do a lot of needle crafts, but not too much sewing, so sewing projects definitely tend to challenge me more.  I managed to produce a nice looking pleated crib skirt in some awesome, room matching fabric.

OCN: Could you tell us where did you get the dresser and the corner cabinet? {they are so beautiful!}
CA: The dresser was purchased off of Craigslist.  It was in rough shape, but my wonderful parents fixed it up for us!  The corner cabinet is actually a built-in that came with our house.  I’ll be so sad to leave it behind when we decide to move to another place!

This corner cabinet is actually a built-in.
It is the perfect place to hold beautiful mementos.
OCN: Any heirlooms in the room?
CA:  I don’t believe I have any old/handed down heirlooms in the room, but plenty of sentimental items.  We have several handmade blankets from friends and family, Brennan’s baptismal gown, blanket, and booties, our shadowbox, Brennan’s birthday candle, and some of our wedding items like our unity candle and my garter.
OCN: Tell us a little about the keepsake frame {with those cute feet in there!}. How did you achieve that? What else do you keep in that frame?

We are in ‘awe’ with this keepsake box.
The casted baby feet makes it perfect!

CA: This is the most cherished item in the whole room, mostly because of the precious feet.  To make the feet, we used supplies purchased from Casting Keepsakes. We used our materials to make the casts of Brennan’s hand and feet while we were in the hospital, the same day he was born!  Those feet are exact replicas of about 16 hour old feet!  I painted them with a pearlized white paint and mounted them in the frame.  Our frame also houses Brennan’s and my hospital bracelets, his umbilical cord clip, the bottle cap from the bottle of celebratory sparkling cider we shared in the hospital, his birth announcement, and one of his first burp rags.

OCN:  What is the item(s) that baby enjoys the most in the room?
CA: When Brennan was really little, he just loved the paint job!  He would be mesmerized by the circles while he nursed, sometimes so much so that he wouldn’t go to sleep!!  Now, I’m not sure which piece is his favorite.  I’d say he likes the bookshelf, table, and dresser evenly- they all have things in them that can be taken out and throw on the floor!

OCN: Finally, What is your best tip for expectant mommies that are decorating gender neutral nurseries?

CA: Just because you are doing a gender neutral nursery, it doesn’t have to be boring!  So many are the typical pastel yellow or green with bears or ducks.  You can still spice it up and make it fun!  By using bright colors, you can make the room more visually stimulating for your baby, as well as making it a space you’ll love to be in.  Bright themes tend to grow well with the child and may fit your toddler, grade-schooler or even teenager!  I could definitely see Brennan’s nursery being a teen’s room!

Thanks to Colleen for the beautiful pictures and inspiration. To learn more about this nursery design and to see even more pics, please visit her blog.
